With every new year comes the excitement of new trends. From shiny metallics to artisanal pieces and to creative storage, the trends of 2017 are not just stylish, they’re easily attainable. Here are four of the biggest home decor trends to keep your eye on in 2017.
Home Décor Trends 2017
Colors by Personality
Behr predicts the year of “color by personality” for 2017 by dividing palettes into three categories: Confident, Composed, and Comfortable. The “Confident” palette draws upon the boldest of colors such as spicy reds, lime greens, and deep blues. The “Composed” palette is tapping into earthy hues poised for a contemporary space. Lastly, the “Comfortable” palette is characterized by muted pastels that are both sophisticated and grounding. This is such a fun look at decorating.

Artisanal Pieces Using Discarded Scraps
2017 home decor trends will be featuring a lot of artisan-crafted salvaged furniture and art pieces. For example, one of our partners, Chase Allen, a Martha Stewart’s American Made Audience Choice Award winner, takes found metal and crafts it into stunning coastal elements. Other artisans craft from driftwood, salvaged picket fences, seashells and so much more. Be on the lookout as this trend grows, and you can add true one-of-a-kind decor to your home.

The easiest way to add a touch of glam to your home, while staying on trend this year, is by introducing a few mixed metallics. We happen to love the sophisticated look of gold. Metallics are truly versatile and allow you to combine warm, neutral, and cool metal tones throughout the home. Add luxe with a gold light fixture, by incorporating a multi-purpose metallic bar cart, or with perfectly placed accents.

Trendy Beach House Storage Ideas
Unfortunately, one of the challenging components of many beach homes is a lack of storage space. If you are one of the many in need of new beach house storage ideas, you are in luck this year. Many of the trends discussed above can be incorporated into storage pieces to keep seasonal or unsightly items tidied up. Try rescuing a bedroom chest or perhaps a wooden toy box which could be turned into a fabulous shabby chic blanket chest. Corral the smaller items with wicker baskets or colorful storage bins.
