Winter is here! And, while we love this cozy season, the harsh weather can wreak havoc on your beach-worthy skin. Unless you’re prepared with these timeless tips. If you take the time to prepare and protect, you can keep your skin feeling plump and smooth all winter long.
Winter Skincare Tips
1. Drink LOTS of Water
When the air is dry, it’s easier for moisture to leave your skin. You need to combat this by drinking water, and we mean lots of it! The benefits of a well-hydrated body are numerous. In addition to keeping skin cells replenished, water keeps wrinkles at bay, muscles healthy and can aid in weight loss.
You should be drinking at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water every day, if not more. It is also recommended to cut out beverages with loads of additives, such as sodas. Tea and black coffee are good, but other beverages will go toward drying out your skin (as will sodium-rich foods). So drink water throughout the day, and your skin will thank you.
2. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize
You need to moisturize daily. After you shower apply moisturizer to your body. You should also invest in a facial moisturizer. Moisturizer for the face is different from a general moisturizing lotion. This is because the skin on your face is thinner and often used more frequently (due to talking, smiling and other facial expressions). If you have trouble spots around your eyes, eye cream helps plump up the moisture throughout the day.
Don’t forget nightly moisturizer as well!
Your body spends more time repairing your body while you sleep than at any other time of the day. Give it what it needs to rebuild damaged skin. Apply a hydration skin cream to your face before bed. This way, you’ll wake up feeling refreshed, and your skin will look great.
3. Humidify Your Space
While you may live near the ocean, you can still benefit from a using a humidifier in your home, especially in your bedroom. Dry air may cause dry skin, and dry skin is more prone to cracking and wrinkling.
4. Sunscreen Up (Even if you don’t think you need to)
Yes, you need to apply sunscreen prior to leaving home, no matter what the outside weather is. Apply SPF or higher, 20-30 minutes before heading outdoors. Ladies should apply sunscreen beneath their make up. It is recommended you reapply every three hours when you’re outdoors.
You should also invest in a lip balm that has at least SPF 15.
5. Opt for All Natural Skincare
Some bar soaps may contain irritating ingredients such as fragrances. To help prevent winter skin problems choose all natural skincare products. We’re proud to offer such products here at Cottage & Bungalow. Our Sans Skincare line is made with essential and pure plant oils, plant butters, and other pure and wonderfully natural ingredients. Renan started creating her Sans Skincare line for her mother who was going through chemotherapy. Sans means—without. Without chemicals, that is. Sans is healthy. Every single ingredient used is beneficial for the body. Every single ingredient nourishes the body with the plant’s own nutrition, and every single ingredient matters.
