Autumn is a great time of the year for locals living along the coast. As the crowds diminish, we can reclaim the beaches and take to the streets. Plus, there’s a different feeling in the air as warm Indian summer days transition to cool, brisk nights. The added chill in the air makes this the ideal time to include quilts into your fall interior design.
Use the following seasonal pointers to celebrate the quilts in your life, while welcoming fall into your home.
The quality of your quilts matters. Well-made quilts are a work of art. Martha Stewart recommends seeking high-quality quilts that are 100% cotton, well-stitched and can be machine washed. If they’re reversible, all the better. Once you begin purchasing quilts, it’s hard not to become a collector!
Frame the squares. Have any quilting friends in your social group? Ask if they have any finished quilt squares tucked away. They’re simple to frame in larger multi-piece wall installations, and even if you only have a single frame, it’ll serve as an unique accent piece.
On and around the bed. Traditionally, quilts dress the bed. However, we love the idea of using a curtain rod and hanging a quilt as a headboard instead. You can have a new headboard anytime you want!
Adorn a fence rack. Rather than a ladder, find an old section of picket fencing and use it to display your collection of quilts.
Guests will love the opportunity to choose their own quilt for star gazing on the patio or snuggling up by the season’s first fires. Are you a lover of quilts?
