Sometimes, a spot of color is all you need to create a focal point in your interior decor. This is especially true in coastal interiors where it’s common to use more natural and neutral tones.
Create a Nautical Focal Point Using Cottage and Bungalow Decor
The following examples have been selected using a combination of nautical design accents for a coastal decor, inspired by Pantone’s 2015 spring color palette.
The sofa. Typically the one of the largest pieces of furniture in your home, the couch is often the living room’s star furnishing. A sofa can also be a stylish focal point when you select a colorful and/or patterned upholstery fabric. The Flora Sofa is a versatile choice, available in a solid blue fabric or a variety of blue-hued patterns such as Gimme-a-Ring or French Blue.
Accent pillows. Accent pillows are one of the easiest elements to change and offer a risk-free opportunity to try bolder accent colors that you might shy away from in larger accents and furnishings. The Mod Starburst Pillow offers a chic, retro-print in an earthy, custard yellow.
The Floor. This Blue Awning Stripe area rug is the perfect anchor for your nautical living room (pun intended!). Set the tone for an intimate conversation area, or define a reading nook or entertainment center with a durable, 100% cotton, hand-loomed rug. It’s available as a rug or a runner.
