Far too often, mirrors are simply viewed for their practical purposes and placed in the home accordingly. Mirrors placed in the bathroom and bedroom allow us to perfect our appearance before heading out of the house, while a mirror in an entryway lets us make last minute touch-ups. However, mirrors also offer numerous benefits when used as a decorative tool.
The design blog freshome recently shared several of the ways mirrors can be used to enhance the look of a home from a decorative standpoint. Below are a few of our favorites.
Mirrors make a room feel larger – Mirrors can make a small space feel larger by offering the illusion of more space. To achieve the look, place mirrors on a wall opposite of a window wall, which will multiply the view – this is a great way to further enjoy a beautiful ocean view!
Add emphasis to a fireplace with a mirror on the mantel – Adding a framed mirror to the mantel places even more emphasis on the fireplace, the focal point of the room. It also helps spotlight your seasonal décor.
Bring interest to a hallway with a mirror – If you have a longer hallway in your home, use it as an opportunity create some visual interest. Mirror vignettes, puzzle piece mirrors, or groups mirrors hung on each side will distract the eyes of those passing by, as well as brighten up the space.
Cottage & Bungalow offers a wide range of mirrors that reflect coastal and nautical styles. Below is a sampling of what we have to offer.
