Chase Allen is living the American dream. After a brief business career, Chase decided life was too short to not be happy with what he was doing. So, he quit his job, moved to a remote island off the Carolina coast, and followed his passion for sculpting metal into whimsical art. In 2014, he won Martha Stewart’s American Made Audience Choice award and the rest, as they say, is history.
Ironfish Art – Coastal Artisans
Chase has been featured in magazines like Coastal Living Magazine, Southern Living & Martha Stewart Living Magazine. Most days, you are likely to find this self-taught artist hammering, cutting, forging and welding metal sculptures into the shapes of coastal elements such as fish, crabs, and mermaids. His pieces capture the simplicity and serenity of coastal life.
In the artist’s own words: “The handcrafted artistry of my metal sculptures coupled with my island lifestyle and the location is what makes my business stand out. I also believe that my unusual career change and “follow the dream” mentality resonate in many people’s minds and hearts. Many people choose a career path for all the wrong reasons. It’s tough to know who one is when one typically makes these choices at such a young age and with few life experiences. Inspiring someone to take a risk to follow their own dreams is truthfully the greatest reward my career could ever offer me.”
Momentos of the simple life, these handcrafted coastal decorative sculptures are more than works of art, they remind us of a relaxing walk on the beach and can’t help but bring a smile to the face of anyone who experiences them.
